Just can't get enough of the ol' boy. I'm still playing around with this etching, figuring out how I want it to look as a finished piece. Added some tone to his blazer using a technique called spit-bite aquatint. My etching workshop teacher went crazy adding primaries together to get the nice brown seen on the second print (plus fun splotches of left-over color). The more I look at it, the more I like it having color vs. just using black. So during my next class I am going to play around with the color inks and see what happens! I'd like to make a few portraits utilizing this style, perhaps work on a slightly larger scale to get the most out of the brushstrokes. But I only have 4 weeks of class left so I better get crackin'!
