TCAF poster by the grotesquely talented Michael DeForge

I'm heading to Toronto, Canada this weekend for TCAF! This marks my first time visiting Canada AND going outside the US. Color me excited to get my passport stamped! You'll be able to find me on the 2nd floor at Table 220, which I'll be sharing with good friend and fellow squid Estrella Vega

I'll have issues 1, 2 and 3 of Three Armed Squid on hand, as well fresh goodies from the silkscreen oven: TCAF exclusive Alien Raver Pancake Pin-up prints and a second edition printing of my book Narwhal.

The 2nd and 1st printings of Narwhal side-by-side

See you soon, Canada!

If you find yourself in Minneapolis tonight, you should mosey over to Light Grey Art Lab's Animystics exhibition opening reception. Above is my piece for the group show, titled Eikthyrnir, the Gardener. A limited edition of signed silkscreen prints and giclee prints will be available for purchase during the show with proceeds going to The Animal Humane Society. If you, like me, can't make it to the show, you can see everyone's contribution on their website and buy my prints here!

Hoo-ray, MoCCA Arts Fest opens tomorrow (see map here)! Above is a sampling of what I'll have on hand at the Three-Armed Squid table (D12). Additionally, I'll have copies of my Narwhal and Pulpo silkscreen books, Owl Maiden totes, and Llama Salutations greeting cards!.

We'll also be debuting the new issue of Three-Armed Squid's anthology, The Four Elementals, featuring work from Andrea Tsurumi, Jess Worby, Pam Wishbow, Will Varner and more!

Currently silkscreening a small edition of Best in Show zines for MoCCA Fest in April. Hoping to finish printing next week. More projects on the way!

12/13/13

This weekend I will be selling my comics and wares at the Degenerate Craft Fair, along with my Three-Armed Squid buddies Estrella Vega and Alden Viguilla. I'll be debuting a few new items, including a holiday Llama Salutations card, a new Alien Raver in Wonderland mini-book and Frida Llama blank notebooks. Hope to see you there!

11/25/13

I made a batch of Gingerbread Llama greeting cards last week! You can buy one at the Degenerate Craft Fair on December 14th - 15th.

11/14/13

Working hard and taking names! I'm assembling this little guy as we speak. Alien Raver: Mad Tea Party is the second in the Alien Raver in Wonderland series (check out the first here). You can nab a copy at the Degenerate Craft Fair on December 14th and 15th.

Grand Comics Festival is this weekend! It will be held at Bird River Studios on 343 Grand Street in Brooklyn from 11am-7pm. Free admission! I will have my typical wares for sale, including Owl Maiden tote bags and the debut of my new silkscreen book Narwhal!

Trying to find the best shade of transparent cyan.

Somehow, I managed to silkscreen a new book in two days. I'll find out if my math is correct when I begin assembling it next week. Pray for me and the narwhals! If all turns out well, this book will debut at the Grand Comics Festival on June 8th and 9th.

If you find yourself in London from now until May 4th, you should head to the Coningsby Gallery and check out The Poop Deck Project curated by AMMO magazine. It's a character themed group show featuring 54 international artists & illustrators. I created a character for their nautical-inspired deck of playing cards for the suit "cursed pirate". Can't wait to get my hands on those cards!

Update: The cards are now available online! Get them while they last!!

2/18/13

I've been silkscreening old and new llama cards the past few weeks.

12/4/12

Good news everyone! My comics collective, Three-Armed Squid, will have a table at the Degenerate Craft Fair, December 15th & 16th at the Dumbo Loft (York St stop on the F train)! We'll be selling our limited edition books and other wares. I'll be debuting new work, including Pulpo, a new Alien Raver mini-book and new llama greeting cards (see below for a preview)! We'd love to see you there! Some additional incentives: FREE BEER and music on Saturday from 6-9pm and the first 50 people at the door on Sunday will receive goodie bags!

More good news! I'm having a massive sale in my web shop! Take 20% off your entire order when you use the discount code BOOJ2NOOJ at checkout. Hoo-ray!

10/9/12

I bet you guys are wondering… how come there haven't been any new Uncanny Alien Raver posts? This question is most good. Between my two classes and freelancing, I've been super busy! I plan on posting up a few more before the end of the year. Once the first batch of 10 are done and properly documented, the original paintings will go on sale on my web shop! If you're unable to obtain the original, prints will be available on Society6 for a limited run.

In other news, I've finished printing my mini-comic Pulpo! Now a couple of hours of trimming and scoring and binding await me. Here's a sneak peak of the final prints:

In addition to silkscreening, I'm taking an editorial illustration class. My first assignment features that loveable red octopus from my comic. We had to create an ex libris (or bookplate) using our family name. Lastly, I contributed an illustration to Silver Screen Society last month for the movie Hook which you can view here! More to come soon!

Assembling a few copies of my Alien Raver mini-comic Quilt (among other things) for the Craftacular and Food Fair this Saturday. Can't wait! You can find us on 82 Mercer St. between Broome and Spring streets. Doors open at 11am. Kim and I will be at Booth 102 (near the entrance, sorta). We hope to see you there!

4/3/12

Every day I become increasingly more pale as I print, print, print and you guessed it, print. Work continues on my comic, Pulpo. I'm hoping it'll be able to make its debut at The MoCCA Festival at the end of April. Keep your fingers crossed!

Kim and I are collaborating on a set of postcards to sell at Bust Magazine's Craftacular and Food Fair on April 14th. Called Rawrs & Noms, the theme is monsters and food. One of my contributions is a pair of creatures from the Black Lagoon enjoying some black tea. I'm working on some more goodies which I will post shortly.

Working, working, working…

12/12/2011

Howdy! So here is what's been going on the past few weeks…

My book Llama! Camel! (edition of 16) has been fully assembled, complete with book jacket. How fancy. (Forgive my oddly-framed photos…)

Here is another project I worked on in November with Shalimar Luis which was hush-hush until recently. We collaborated on this baby shower invitation for our mutual friends Monica and Tom. The cards (edition of 75) turned out beautifully and everyone really enjoyed them. Hurray!

Lastly, I finished printing my Owl Maiden posters (edition of 30) this weekend (finally). The colors look completely different on white paper, which is fun. These posters and my Llama! Camel! book will be available for purchase on my web shop soon.

I still have much work to do. I'm wrapping up a commission (which I am hoping to silkscreen over the weekend somehow) and putting the final touches on my Pulpo mini-comic. WHY TIME GO FAST?
